The Highway Sounds
Today large cities are becoming more and more populated with businesses, venues, and residential buildings popping up everywhere in them. Downtown is the most popular spot of any city and many people want to live in the middle of all the action. Now we all know that running through all major cities are many highway systems branching out in many directions and meeting all in the middle. Because of this some sound barriers are placed along the edges of the highway to help cut down on loud annoying highway noises that occur at all hours of the day. The barriers are made out of concrete because they have to be durable incase a car should happen to crash into one. How they work is by trying to keep the noise in one specific area. Sound barriers do not absorb sound nor can they get rid of it, they simply just help cut down on the spreading of the sounds to other areas.
These barriers are not only found in cities but also along residential areas where many people’s back yards run into the highway. This gives residents the soundproofing they want, but I believe it also helps give them a little bit more privacy and keeps small children from accidentally running into the middle of oncoming traffic.
Sound barriers can also be found in many other places including manufacturing companies that house machines that are very loud when in use. They can be constructed custom into any shape and side for any use. Other materials used to make these barriers include plastic, wood, metal and many more. These barriers really help cut down on noise pollution or unnecessary noise that we might hear at any given time.
